About
An independent reference archive on amateur astronomy and night sky observation in Poland.
What this is
Farehamfield.eu publishes factual notes on optical equipment selection, observation methodology, and the Polish astronomical event calendar. The content is written for people who have decided to take up amateur astronomy and need grounded information rather than promotional summaries from equipment retailers.
The site does not sell equipment, represent any manufacturer, or hold commercial relationships with telescope retailers or astronomy associations. All external links point to organisations, tools, or databases that have been verified as accurate references at time of publication.
What is covered
Three main areas form the current content:
- Optical instrument types, aperture mechanics, and mount selection — with realistic assessment of what each configuration achieves on Polish skies across different Bortle classes.
- Observation session planning — weather forecasting tools, moon phase scheduling, dark-sky site locations in Poland, and practical session logging.
- The annual astronomical event calendar for Poland — meteor showers, planetary oppositions, eclipses, and regional association gatherings, with timing, equipment requirements, and site notes.

Update policy
Each article carries a "last reviewed" date. The astronomical events calendar is verified against published ephemeris data from the USNO Astronomical Applications Department and cross-checked against Stellarium simulations before publication.
